Notes from the Dec. 5th Planning Hearing
Good morning! Wanted to share a few notes from last night's public hearing. After receiving public comments that nearly unanimously favored reinstating the old code while a new one is crafted, the Planning Commission approved a motion to recommend the City Council do just that.
Perhaps this is the first of many agreements we can have a community as we look to craft a replacement code. There was general acknowledgement from the public that the old code will require some changes. Now is the time to get started!
The Planning Commission also heard the results of the recent survey taken by residents. Nearly 300 people participated, and while not a scientifically valid survey, it provides a snapshot of the opinions of those who took the time to fill it out. Take a look at the results here: https://www.cityofharborsprings.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Zoning-Code-Survey-Results-All-Data.pdf
I am really impressed that so many took the time to participate both in the survey and at last night's meeting. Most importantly, the meeting was largely civil in tone. Congrats to all!
The next meeting is the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting on December 19th. Between now and then send your ideas about what changes you'd like to see in the next code to the City Manager at: citymgr@cityofharborsprings.com
Thanks for checking in, have a great weekend, and remember to share this with those who might be interested. I will also be helping to keep you up to date at www.forwardharborsprings.org (Re-named now what we aren't voting "no" anymore! Glad that part is over.)
